C.H. Spurgeon
Charles Haddon Spurgeon was England’s best-known preacher for most of the second half of the nineteenth century. In 1854, then only 20, became pastor of London’s famed New Park Street Church (formerly pastored by the famous Baptist theologian John Gill). The congregation quickly outgrew their building, moved to Exeter Hall, then to Surrey Music Hall. In these venues Spurgeon frequently preached to audiences numbering more than 10,000 - all in the days before electronic amplification. Spurgeon.orgcontains many of his best-known printed works, as well as additional resources and information about the preacher.
Ray C. Stedman
Ray C. Stedman was one of the great Bible teachers of the twentieth century. Ray’s primary teaching method was expository preaching, systematically teaching through entire books of the Bible. This style enabled the Christian to build up a broad base of biblical knowledge from which the Holy Spirit could draw upon in daily life. It was very important to Ray that Christians become personally well grounded in the whole breadth of the Bible. Peninsula Bible Church of Palo Alto, California has an archive of much of Ray’s teaching on their website. The text transcriptions are also available in Spanish.
